His author, Silvestre Silva, has been a reporter-photographer since the mid-1970s. In the early years of his career, in Sao Paulo, he worked for some of the major news publications in Brazil.

Since 1980 he has been working on several research and photographic documentation projects in the area of botany all over Brazil. Today his photos can be seen in a variety of over 4,000 publications, many of which are relevant to scientific studies worldwide.
