Product Description

This sculpture was made with one of the most emblematic materials of Brazilian sculptural production: soapstone. This soft soapstone variety is widely used in Brazil. In the state of Minas Gerais, they use the soapstone for making jewelry, pots, mugs, wine glasses, souvenirs for tourists and statues.

Found in colors ranging from gray to green, it is refractory and withstands high temperatures, making it a perfect material for use both indoors and outdoors.

One of the main architectural landmarks in Brazil, the Cristo Redentor, an art deco statue located at the top of the Corcovado hill is one of the landmarks of Rio de Janeiro. The Christ the Redeemer statue is officially included by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage Sites and was made of armed concrete and soapstone.
