Product Description

This is the most complete referenced work on the magnificent patrimony of the religious buildings of the Brazilian colonial period. There are more than 360 colored images of ten photographers - Alex Salim, Ary Diesendruck, Günther Heil, Jacob Tadeu Gelwan, Jaime Diniz, Manoel Nunes de Oliveira, Maurício Simonetti, Percival Tirapelli, Ricardo Siqueira and Victor Hugo Mori - who present a qualitative set of more than 80 churches registered by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute, a federal institution linked to the Ministry of Culture.

The Ministry of Culture is responsible for preserving, disseminating and inspecting Brazilian cultural assets, as well as guaranteeing the use of these assets by current and future generations. In addition to the most well-known classical churches, this book contains some gems that were previously outside the regular circuit of studies and research. Some were not part of the tourist circuit due to the lack of knowledge of both its stylistic and historical values.

The book presents the churches by region, beginning with the Northeast, where they are the oldest, and following North and Southeast, with texts about each of the States, including other relevant buildings. The work also presents an updated list of the museums of sacred art in Brazil.
