Product Description

Prince João of Orleans and Bragança is part of the imperial family of Brazil. He is the great, great grandson of the emperor Pedro I of Brazil (king Pedro IV of Portugal), who proclaimed the independence of the country, great-grandson of the last emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II, and great-grandson of the last imperial princess of Brazil, D. Isabel de Bragança .

With all this background, however, he declares himself curiously republican. As a photographer, his talent is indisputable, which can easily be testified by the contents of this book. This is his first book, published with photos of Paraty, a historic city that lies at the southern end of the bay of Angra dos Reis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

These are new photos and archives, which present Paraty and its surroundings in what is richest in diversity and most beautiful. This book depicts the streets, the buildings, the mangroves and the sea, as well as local people and scenes of popular festivals. An affectionate album about a city that the photographer learned to love with his father.
